Click here for a listing of public schools and
alternative schools in Washington under King County.
This link covers High Schools, Middle Schools and Elementary Schools.
This website is geared toward people who
have moved to a new location and are seeking information about local schools.
You can click on the Home link and it will take you to a listing of
states. Click on the state of your
choice and it will take you to a listing of counties in that state.
The other option is to put the name of the school into the Google search
engine along with the city or state and it should bring up some selections.
Most large schools have websites.
Research Strategy:
Obtaining information about high school students and graduates can be
accomplished by finding high school year books.
The Seattle Public Library has a great collection in the Seattle Room on
the 10th floor of the library. See the information for the Seattle
Public Library under Public Libraries above.
Some yearbooks can be found at genealogical societies or historical
societies locally. Middle and elementary would be more difficult although some
do have yearbooks.
The
3rd Street
Book Exchange store in Marysville, WA
has yearbooks online. The store is
at 1615 3rd St., Marysville, WA 98270 and the phone is (360)
659-8734.
The other option is to contact the school directly.
As an example just do an online search for
Roosevelt
High School and you will
find their website at
www.rhsseattle.org. The alumni link
is to the foundation:
www.rooseveltfoundation.org/ and
they have interesting information there.
In order to find an alumni you probably will have to contact the school
directly and ask questions. Privacy
laws require that schools not reveal or give out information about their
students so you will need to find out what their rules are.
Since Roosevelt is under the
Seattle
School District you could
find older information at the Seattle Public Schools Archives which I have
listed under Special Archives section below. It depends on the size of the school
district if they will have an archive.
