Research
Strategy:
Below are links for searching for cemetery information.
Here are several suggestions.
Start with local genealogical society websites section.
Many of them have documented cemeteries in their area and have published
books on them. Historical Societies
may also have cemetery records; check that section for information.
For Funeral Home records check with both societies.
When
you contact a cemetery or funeral home you might be faced with privacy issues.
So be prepared with the information you want to search and identify your
relationship to the people you are searching for.
Some will do surname searches so give them several surnames that are
associated with your ancestor. You
might be surprised at what you find.
Some will charge $10.00 or more for searching for just one ancestor.
So be prepared to make choices if you have a lot of ancestors to find.
If
you are looking for old funeral homes that have disappeared in the Seattle area you might
want to contact Evergreen-Washelli.
They have inherited a lot of old records
from funeral homes that have long since disappeared.
They are also one of the largest cemeteries in northern Seattle.
